Georgia Pageant Queen Arrested in Death of 18-Month-Old Boy

Jaxton DrewAn 18-year-old Georgia pageant queen has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a child.
On June 14, the Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department asked authorities to investigate Trinity Poague regarding the death of a child. Now, one week later, she has been charged with Aggravated Battery, Felony Murder and Cruelty to Children First Degree.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation explained their findings in a press release Sunday.
“The investigation indicates an unresponsive 18-month-old boy was admitted to the emergency room at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia,” it reads. “Hospital personnel performed life saving measures on the child; however, he later died.”
Poague, who was previously a contestant in the local National Peanut Festival Pageant, is currently being held without bond and the investigation is ongoing, according to the police. Per WALB, Sumter County Coroner Mathis Wright said that the child’s name was Romeo Angles on his birth certificate. However, at the hospital, the father said his name was Jaxton Drew.
The outlet also reported that Wright said his initial findings point to blunt force trauma as Drew’s cause of death, pending autopsy results.

A GoFundMe page organized for Drew’s father, Jaxton Williams, includes a lengthy message.
“The unfathomable thought, of having to bury a child,” it reads. “There are no words that can bring peace. No words that can bring comfort. An innocent life, that was taken from this world way too soon. A laugh that will no longer fill the room. A smile that will no longer light the darkness.”
It continues to celebrate Williams’ parenting of Drew, calling him the “sole care taker of his only child.”
“Ja has been in our life for a long time. It was amazing watching him grow into one of the best fathers around. A man, that took on the role that even most women struggle with daily,” it says.
