Paul Rodriguez, Jurassic Quest animatronic dinosaurs and Jenny 69 among events in El Paso

Lots of diversity is the highlight of this weekend's events around El Paso, including comedian Paul Rodriguez at the El Paso Comic Strip.

The dinosaurs are back with the Jurassic Quest at the El Paso convention center. And Pride Month continues with an interesting pop-up exhibit at the El Paso History Museum. Influencer Jenny 69 is headed for the Speaking Rock Entertainment Center.

Later in the week, enjoy free concerts at McKelligon Canyon and a new event, a rap seminar celebrating the 50 years of hip-hop at Funkmeyers Rec Room on the East Side.

Comedian Paul Rodriguez comes to El Paso Comic Strip

Funny man Paul Rodriguez returns to El Paso with shows through Sunday at the El Paso Comic Strip, 1201 Airway Blvd. Showtimes: 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for early shows and 9:30 p.m. for late shows. Tickets range from $25 to $35, available at www.laff2nite.com

Check out Jurassic Quest dinosaurs in El Paso

The Jurassic Quest animatronic dinosaurs — from the largest predators to playful baby dinos — are displayed in realistic scenes through Sunday at the El Paso convention center. Prices range from $22, plus fees, for general admission and $36, plus fees, for unlimited access, available at www.jurassicquest.com

New exhibit showcases El Paso's drag scene

El Paso's contemporary drag scene is highlighted through photography and costumes of local performers in a pop-up exhibit at the El Paso Museum of History in recognition of Pride Month. The exhibit, titled "Drag in Focus: A Close-Up of El Paso's Drag Scene," showcases drag as a meaningful art form while honoring diversity and expression in the Borderland, the museum stated. The pop-up exhibit will be on display through July 8 at the El Paso Museum of History, 510 N. Santa Fe St. Information: www.epmuseumofhistory.org

Jenny 69 at Speaking Rock Entertainment Center

YouTuber and social media influencer Jenny 69 is coming to Speaking Rock on Saturday. Listen to her viral hit "La 69" on the stage. Johnny Kage will open the night. Doors open at 6 p.m. Free show for 21 and over.

Free community cleanup events

El Paso County Public Works is having a free community clean up event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at El Rosio Yard, 580 El Rosio Ave. Passenger tires, 17 inches or smaller, (up to a total of 1,500), bulk trash, and electronic waste will be accepted. For questions on what will be accepted, 915-546-2015.

Cool Canyon Nights

Sangre Gitana will perform at 7 p.m. June 29 at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre. Concerts are at 6 p.m., with an opening act on the EPCC Patio Stage and the main act in the amphitheater. Seating is limited, so arrive early and secure your spot.

Rap seminar celebrates 50 years of hip-hop

Rap Seminar LLC is thrilled to announce the Rap Seminar All Elements Exhibition, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. June 29 at Funkmeyers Rec Room, 1506 Lee Trevino Drive, Suite B-1. This event will showcase DJing, emceeing, graffiti, and breakdancing experts. The exhibition is free for the public to attend. Featured performers will include Bocafloja, Termanology and Jazzanaut, among other artists. The event also will have a Q&A with the featured artists, allowing attendees to engage directly with their favorite hip-hop performers.
