On Friday, civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump announced that the city of Minneapolis has settled a lawsuit with the family of George Floyd for $27 million, calling it the “largest pre-trial settlement in a civil rights wrongful death case in U.S. history.” The settlement comes almost a year after Floyd died in police custody, an event that ignited a summer of protests against police brutality.
