George Eads to Exit ‘MacGyver’ on CBS
George Eads is leaving CBS’ reboot of “MacGyver,” Variety has confirmed.
Eads has been with the drama series since it debuted in 2016 in the role of Jack Dalton, starring opposite series lead Lucas Till. His last episode of the series, which is currently in its third season, is expected to air in 2019.
Reps for Eads, CBS, and CBS TV Studios declined to comment on the reason for his departure from “MacGyver.”
This marks the second time Eads has departed a CBS show. He previously played Nick Stokes on the hit CBS procedural “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” He took a leave of absence from that series after an incident with a writer in 2013, ultimately leaving the show after 15 seasons in 2015. He did not return for the two-part series finale that aired later that same year, despite the fact that many of the show’s original cast members returned for it. Eads and co-star Jorja Fox were also briefly fired from the show in 2004 during a salary dispute.
“MacGyver” has aired on Friday nights, paired with fellow CBS reboot “Hawaii Five-O” and the Tom Selleck-led drama “Blue Bloods.” The series is currently one of CBS’ lowest rated shows, with Season 3 averaging a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers per episode in Live+Same Day.
