George Clooney's Bat-Signal days are likely behind him.

More than 25 years after appearing as the titular Caped Crusader in 1997's critically panned Batman & Robin, the 62-year-old actor joked that it would take a lot to get him back into the Batsuit, despite his brief cameo as Bruce Wayne near the end of this year's The Flash.

"I don't think there's enough drugs in the world for me to go back there," Clooney said with a smile during a conversation with Entertainment Tonight last week at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film The Boys in the Boat.

Asked how his surprise Flash cameo came to be, the two-time Oscar winner quipped, "There was such a clamor for me to come back as [Batman], as you know."

"I actually said, 'Where are my rubber nipples?' " Clooney joked, referring to the infamous detail on his suit. "And they were like, 'Can we do it without the rubber nipples?' I was like, 'Well, it's not really my Batman, is it?' "

Clooney has been the first to admit that he doesn't think he's superhero material in recent years, while looking back on his brief turn as Batman in Batman & Robin.

"I did one superhero movie and I f---ed it up so bad they won't let me near the set," he joked during an October 2021 Q&A session in New York City following a screening of his movie The Tender Bar.

Earlier that month, Clooney said he won't let his wife Amal Clooney or their kids, now-6-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, watch the movie. "There are certain films I just go, 'I want my wife to have some respect for me,' " he told Variety.

The Ocean's Eleven star added, "It's bad when your 4-year-old kid goes, 'This sucks.' That could be painful."

Directed by Joel Schumacher, Batman & Robin featured a supporting cast of Chris O'Donnell as Robin, Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl, Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. It was slammed by critics, and currently holds an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

But at least one person in Clooney's life has some kind of appreciation for his turn as Batman: longtime friend Julia Roberts!

"There's no picture, but George is in my phone under code name 'Batman Cell,' " Roberts, 56, said in October 2022 during the pair's interview with YouTuber Jake's Takes amid the then-upcoming release of their movie Ticket to Paradise.

"Now I have to change it," she added.

"Now everybody knows," Clooney joked. "And mine's 'Pretty Woman' — it's not, but I just tried. I'm literally lying about that."

The Boys in the Boat is in theaters on Dec. 25.
