George Clooney jokes that the royal baby stole his birthday thunder

George Clooney stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night, where he talked about his friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who welcomed a baby boy Monday morning. While Clooney’s happy for the couple, he’s just a little bit mad about the timing of the royal baby’s arrival on his birthday.

“The kid stole my thunder,” Clooney said.

Clooney has been a longtime friend to Prince Harry and Meghan. He and wife Amal Clooney went to their wedding last May, and there’s even been buzz that Clooney will be the royal baby’s godfather. However, he quickly shot down the rumor when Kimmel asked.

“That would be a bad idea,” Clooney said. “What would that — I shouldn't be the [godfather] — I'm the father of twins. I can barely do that.”

The royal baby wasn’t the only kid to steal Clooney’s birthday thunder. George and Amal welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander, back in June 2017. He told Kimmel that his daughter kicked him out of his own bed the morning of his birthday.

“And she spreads out, and you're literally laying like this on the bed, in the corner, hanging off,” Clooney explained. “Then I realize, that's no good. So I covered all around the bed with pillows. In case she falls off. And I went and slept in her nursery.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Jimmy Kimmel for free on Yahoo View.
