George Clinton To Receive Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

George Clinton has been named the recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Announced on Tuesday (Jan. 9), the legendary musician will be recognized by the institution for his artistic and creative achievements.

The ceremony is set to take place on Friday, Jan. 12, at 11:30 a.m. PT in front of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Calif. Clinton’s induction will also be live-streamed on the official website. Guest speakers include Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, civil rights attorney Ben Crump, and songwriter Janie Bradford.

Clinton’s star, cemented in the recording category, will be the 2,769th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“George Clinton is a highly influential songwriter, record producer, and performer known for his contributions to funk music,” expressed Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“He has been instrumental in shaping the sound of Funk and pushing musical boundaries. His distinctive style, flamboyant persona, and psychedelic stage presence have made him a beloved figure and a pioneer of the genre. We are thrilled that he’s going to be bringing the Funk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame!”

The 82-year-old’s iconic career includes spearheading Parliament/Funkadelic (P-Funk), establishing one of the most “uniquely identifiable and timeless” musical collectives that “has lifted Funk to an internationally recognized and respected form of music.” Additional accolades include being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
