George and Amal Clooney donate $500,000 to March for Our Lives — and promise to attend with 'our family'
The Clooneys are firmly behind the March for Our Lives — and they’re making it a family affair.
The superstar actor and superstar human rights attorney announced on Tuesday that not only will they be donating $500,000 for the March 24 protest in Washington D.C., which has been organized by some of the student survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, but they will be in attendance as well. It also sounds like their infant twins, Ella and Alexander, whom they’ve never taken to a public event or shared photos of, could be there too.
“Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School,” George said in a statement to Yahoo Entertainment. “Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children, Ella and Alexander, we’re donating $500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event. Our children’s lives depend on it.”
Five students — Jacqueline Coren, Emma Gonzalez, Cameron Kasky, David Hogg, and Alex Wind — from the Parkland, Fla., high school, who witnessed 17 of their fellow classmates and teachers being murdered by a lone gunman with an AR-15 on Feb. 14, announced the march on Washington, and other cities, to demand stricter gun control regulation to prevent future mass shootings. The march will be held in conjunction with Everytown for Gun Safety.
