‘Genius’: Shannon Tarbet, Claire Rushbrook & Robert Lindsay To Recur On Nat Geo Anthology Series

Shannon Tarbet, Claire Rushbrook and Robert Lindsay have booked recurring roles opposite Geoffrey Rush in Genius, National Geographic Channel’s upcoming anthology series from Fox 21 TV Studios and Imagine Television.

The first season of the 10-episode anthology series will focus on famous physicist Albert Einstein (Rush), based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Einstein: His Life and Universe. It will chart how an imaginative, rebellious patent clerk, who couldn’t get a teaching job or a doctorate, unlocked the mysteries of the atom and the universe. Each episode will explore Einstein’s extraordinary scientific achievements, along with his volatile, passionate and complex personal relationships. Imagine principal, Oscar-winning helmer Ron Howard, is set to direct the first episode

Tarbet will play Marie Winteler, a beautiful, bright, warm-hearted schoolteacher from a good Swiss family. She is the girl Albert’s mother wants him to marry. Marie has just finished teacher’s college and is living at home when Albert moves in and steals her heart. As wonderful as Marie is, she cannot keep up with Albert’s insatiable mind. Rushbrook will play Pauline Einstein, Albert’s mother. Overly doting and opinionated, Pauline only wants ‘what is best’ for her son. Lindsay will play Hermann Einstein, Albert’s father. Old-fashioned and stern, Hermann wants his son to succeed in the traditional way; graduate high school, study engineering and join the family electrical business. Albert refuses to do all three, thus sparking a contentious relationship with his father.

Tarbet recently wrapped two films, a lead role opposite Matthew Broderick and Chloe Sevigny in dark comedy Look Away and Michael Pearce’s Beast, which was shot over the summer. She’s repped by United Agents and Inspire Entertainment.

Rushbrook was nominated for a BAFTA for her role in My Mad Fat Diary. On the stage, she starred in Hang at the Royal Court. She’s repped by Troika.

BAFTA, Olivier and Tony-winning actor Lindsay’s TV credits include British sitcoms Citizen Smith, My Family and Bull, and he was seen earlier this year in the hit U.S. series Galavant. His stage experience includes seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, notably Richard III, the Royal National Theatre, and he received critical praise for his role in Kevin Spacey’s Old Vic Theatre Company’s The Entertainer. He’s repped by Hamilton Hodell.
