For General Hospital‘s Alexis Davis, there’s a lot to celebrate this year. Luckily, in real life, performer Nancy Lee Grahn also has a major milestone to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Nancy Lee Grahn!

That’s because she was born on April 28, 1956, in Skokie, Illinois, which means that this talented daytime veteran is turning 68 years old today! Grahn’s interest in acting presented itself at an early age — no doubt thanks to her parents’ involvement with their local community playhouse.

Grahn made her stage debut in a production of Oklahoma and continued performing in plays throughout her school years. She subsequently relocated to New York City, where she studied acting with Sandy Meisner and Bill Epsen and appeared in a number of plays, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Barefoot in the Park.

Her first television role was Beverly Wilkes on ABC’s One Life to Live, which she held between 1980 and 1982. Immediately following her exit from the part, Grahn headed out to Los Angeles and guest-starred in many primetime programs, including The Incredible Hulk, Magnum P.I., Quincy, M.E., Simon & Simon, and Murder She Wrote.

In 1985, she was cast as Julia Wainwright on the now-canceled soap Santa Barbara. She remained there until the final episode in 1993. For her work on the series, Grahn won the 1989 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress Award — which she shares with actress Debbi Morgan.

Grahn, who has played GH’s Alexis Davis since September 28, 1996, won another Daytime Emmy for that role as well in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category in 2012. She has also appeared in episodes of Model’s Inc., Renegade, Diagnosis: Murder, and Castle. Her further credits include TV movies Obsessed with a Married Woman and Kid’s Don’t Tell, as well as the feature film Children of the Corn III. She also had recurring roles in series such as Melrose Place and Murder One.
