Now that we know Gen V will definitely be coming back for season 2, let's talk about how this show will be connecting to the mothership series.

Eric Kripke, who showruns The Boys and oversees the college-set spinoff, tells EW that the Gen V season 1 finale will tie in to the events of The Boys season 4. "I don't think it's a spoiler to say that, by the end of season 1 of Gen V, there's a handoff to season 4 of The Boys," Kripke says in an interview conducted before the season 2 announcement. "Then whenever we break season 4 of The Boys, there will be a handoff to the hopeful season 2 of Gen V."

Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair as blood-bender Marie Moreau; Chance Perdomo as master of magnetism Andre Anderson; Lizze Broadway as size-shrinking Emma Meyers; gender-shifting Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh); troubled strongman Sam Riordan (Asa Germann); mental "pusher" Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips); and Luke Riordan/Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) — all young supes studying at Godolkin University, America's premier college for the super-abled.

The Boys finished filming season 4 in Toronto back in April. Claudia Doumit, who appears on both shows, previously told EW that Gen V will "tee up a lot of stuff that's going to happen in season 4 for The Boys."

Warning: The rest of this article contains spoilers from Gen V season 1, episode 6, "Jumanji."

This week's episode, titled "Jumanji," seems to have introduced an element that may or may not play into the larger universe of The Boys. After discovering that God U has been keeping supe kids captive and performing experiments on them in a facility called the Woods, it's revealed that Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) has been making Dr. Cardosa (Marco Pigossi) create a virus that can kill supes. Seems like just the kind of thing that might play into the events of the main series.

Kripke and Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas say they need to be in constant communication with each other so that both of their dramas meld together. "When they were breaking the virus storyline, they just had to be in regular communication with me in my room to understand, 'Is that a thing out in the world that'll be helpful to us or is it going to f--- us?'" Kripke says.

"Also, it can't get too complicated," Fazekas says. "You should be able to watch Gen V and not watch The Boys. You can watch The Boys and not watch Gen V. But [the shows] talking to each other and being consistent is always important."

New episodes of Gen V stream on Prime Video every Friday, with the season 1 finale planned for Nov. 3.
