Gay Agenda, Aug 4: ‘Will & Grace’ Reboot Gets Second Season, Neon Trees Return, Lady Gaga & More

Gay Agenda is a new column for Billboard Pride where we run down a few fab things before the weekend. Between new tracks, music videos and pop culture moments, we want our readers to be prepared for boozy brunch conversation.

For this week’s edition, we have Lady Gaga‘s Joanne World Tour set list, new music from Neon Trees and the new Latin sensation blowing up Britney Spears‘ Snapchat.

1. It’s been three years since Neon Trees released Pop Psychology, but after a break — and an incredible solo offering from fab frontman Tyler Glenn — the band is back with “Feel Good.” The tune shows the band returning to its signature carefree pop-rock sound and will undoubtedly having you singing along at the top of your lungs after a few listens.

2. Mother Monster kicked off her Joanne World Tour in Vancouver on Tuesday, and it looks as over-the-top as we expected. The set list contains all but two songs from Joanne — “Sinner’s Prayer” and Florence Welch-assisted “Hey Girl” didn’t make the cut (songs from the deluxe edition, “Grigio Girls” and “Just Another Day,” were also skipped). The set’s most exciting surprise? Gaga dusted off Born This Way fan favorites “Bloody Mary” and “Scheiße.”

3. If Gia isn’t on your radar yet, wake up! Earlier this week, the 21-year-old sapphic goddess premiered her wine-soaked visual for her new single “What I Like” on Billboard, and it’s delicious.

4. Bandcamp is taking a stand against President Donald Trump’s declaration that transgender troops will no longer be able to serve in the military by donating 100 percent of their share of every sale Friday (Aug. 4) to the Transgender Law Center.

5. In this week’s edition, we can exclusively premiere Bay Area queer singer Saturn Rising’s new track “Blown.” His inspiration? “We were laying in bed together and I didn’t shoot my shot, so to speak,” Saturn told Billboard. “I was in my head the entire time and I couldn’t say anything. My mind was literally blown. I’m still blushing about it.” The song is the first offering from Saturn’s upcoming EP, Darkest Dream — which he will be celebrating with a release party at The Standard in downtown L.A. on Aug. 10.

6. Bloc Party‘s Kele Okereke and Years & Years‘ Olly Alexander released a track titled “Grounds for Resentment.” “I couldn’t think of a precedent of any out gay musicians singing a love song to one another without having to hide behind codes,” Okereke said. The breezy song will appear on Okereke’s upcoming solo LP Fatherland, due Oct. 6.

7. Cool girl QUIÑ recruited The Internet’s Syd for her latest single, “Sticky Situation.” The track’s visual is a sweet concoction of bubblegum, cotton candy and lady love. QUIÑ will be following the release with a performance at Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn on August 26 and an EP, titled Dream Girl, due later this fall.

8. The Will & Grace revival won’t premiere until late September, but NBC has already ordered a second season. With Karen Walker (Megan Mullally) being a Trump supporter, the show is sure to have plenty of material.

9. With Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” leading the Billboard Hot 100 for a 12th straight week, the industry was bound to take notice. Not only is Fonsi featured on Friday’s re-release of DNCE and Nicki Minaj’s slept-on “Kissing Strangers,” but another Latin track is gaining momentum: J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente” is currently sitting atop Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart. Britney Spears co-signed the song by using its Snapchat filter, so expect this to be a nightclub staple for the foreseeable future.

10.
