Gavin Newsom to Debate Ron DeSantis in Debate Moderated by Fox News Host Sean Hannity

The long-rumored televised debate between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is officially a go.

Fox News says that its 9 p.m. host Sean Hannity will moderate the debate, which will be held Thursday, Nov. 30 in the state of Georgia. The 90-minute debate will take place at a location to be determined, and will run during Hannity’s 9 p.m. program.

The idea for a debate sprang from Hannity’s interview with Newsom in June, and DeSantis agreed in July, though some snags around the timing and venue had put the debate in question until now.

“I’m looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issues and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American,” Hannity said in a statement.

Fox News has had something of a monopoly on Republican primary debates so far. The channel hosted the first GOP debate in August, garnering about 13 million viewers. The second debate will be held Sep. 27, and will be hosted by Fox Business Network and Univision, though it will also air on Fox News.

A DeSantis-Newsom debate is an entirely different proposition, but it will give the politicians extensive time on Fox’s primetime lineup to make their case.
