"I Don't Want to Be" was released as part of Degraw's 2003 debut album, Chariot. It also served as the official theme song for the hit teen drama One Tree Hill, which aired from 2003 to 2012.
Other Auto-Tune-free covers on T-Pain's latest album include Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and Sam Smith's "Stay With Me." T-Pain called the album featuring him singing live a "holiday gift" to his fans.
"For all the people who wanted an album of me singing live, this is my holiday gift to you. For the Tiny Desk & Masked Singer fans & everyone in between, you ain't heard nothing yet. Thank you all for supporting me through this wild journey," his post on X read.

The live album follows the release of the cover album On Top Of The Covers in March. The musician said in a statement shared by Complex at the time that it was an album that was "years in the making."
"It got put on hold for a bit, but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time. These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it," his statement read
T-Pain previously showcased on his natural voice when he competed in the first season of the Fox reality competition series The Masked Singer in 2019.
