A third-party contractor who was working with the Gastonia CarMax at the time is accused of having marijuana mailed to this workplace.

Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Williams was arrested at CarMax by Gastonia Police on Monday, May 22.

According to Rick Goodale, spokesman for the Gastonia Police Department, Williams had allegedly been having packages from Hollywood, California, delivered to CarMax on Remount Road for some time.

On Sunday, May 21, management at CarMax allegedly noticed an odor coming from one of the packages. The following day, around 9 a.m., they called Gastonia Police, who opened the package to find a little more than three pounds of marijuana, according to police.

Officers confiscated the substance and reportedly replaced it with three pounds worth of other material. When Williams came in to retrieve his package later that day, police asked him if the package belonged to him.

Williams confirmed that it did and was promptly arrested and charged with felony possession and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver, according to police.

Williams was released the same day posting a $10,000 bond.
