Gary Sinise, a longtime advocate for service members and military veterans, tonight will be honored by Heroes Linked with its distinguished service award.

The non-profit, which is throwing its annual gala at the Beverly Hilton, assists veterans, military spouses, service members transitioning to civilian life, and Gold Star families. That includes efforts to secure housing and to offer college grant assistance.

Joe Mantegna, last year’s recipient, will present the award to Sinise. They have frequently co-hosted the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C.

Sinise established the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 to support veterans and first responders, including building custom homes for severly wounded soldiers and providing equipment and training.

James Colbert, executive director of Heroes Linked, said in a statement that Sinise “is not only a renowned Hollywood figure but also an advocate dedicated to the well-being of our nation’s heroes. Through his tireless efforts, he has become a beacon of support for veterans and active-duty military personnel, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he serves.” The event also will include a performance by J.D. Hinton.
