Gary Oldman to Star in Apple Drama Series ‘Slow Horses’

Gary Oldman is set to star in Apple drama series “Slow Horses,” an adaptation of Mick Herron’s Slough House books. The title comes directly from the first novel in the series.

“Slow Horses” follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 in London called Slough House. Oldman will star as Jackson Lamb, who is described as the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes.

Will Smith (“Veep”) will write and executive produce the series. Graham Yost, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Matrux, and Douglas Urbanski are also executive producers on the See-Saw Films show.

Oldman is known much more for his film work than the few television roles he’s had. Last year, he won the lead actor Oscar for his role in “Darkest Hour.” In 2012, he was nominated for the same award as the star of “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” Oldman does have one Emmy nomination to his name, for a 2001 guest role in NBC sitcom “Friends.”

To date, Herron has published six novels and two novellas in the Slough House series. A third novella is due out in January 2020.
