Gary King Reveals He Slid into This Southern Charmer’s DMs

Sparks were flying between Taylor Ann Green and Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Schwartz at BravoCon 2022, but it turns out the Southern Charm cast member had also caught the eye of Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gary King.

The yachtie revealed as much during a recent episode of Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast. “I didn’t have the chance to meet her at BravoCon as we were so busy, but I slid into her DMs,” Gary explained.

Once there, he learned that Taylor had apparently taken notice of him at BravoCon too. “I think she caught me eyeing her a little bit from a distance, and when I slid into her DMs, she actually mentioned it,” he shared. “She’s like, ‘I saw you looking at me. Why didn’t you come say hi?’ And Gary, who he is, is never nervous, [but] I was just too nervous. I was shy.”

That, and perhaps a little unnerved by Taylor’s ex, Shep Rose. As Gary — who has admittedly “never seen” Southern Charm before — put it, “She was bombarded by that very tall guy who I thought was her boyfriend, who I believe was previously. And he’s intimidating. I’m not the tallest — I’m like, what, 5'8", 5'9" — and he’s like 6'6" and he towers over me like the Eiffel Tower.”

Looking back, though, Gary does wish he had approached Taylor in person. “I’m actually shooting myself in the foot,” he said, “so hopefully in the future, it can happen.”

After all, he and Taylor are still in touch. “We chat every now and then,” Gary added. “She seems like a really, really cool girl… I love her outlook on life. I like how easygoing she is, and it doesn’t seem like she takes anything too seriously.”

Unfortunately, Gary is at a slight disadvantage compared to Tom, as Shep previously stated that he’s practically rooting for Schwartz and Taylor to get together. “I love Thomas Schwartz. That would make me happy if she ended up with Thomas Schwartz,” he told E! News in 2022. “My point is I’m not a jealous man. We had a great, great time. If she ends up with a very good guy that makes her happy, that would make me happy.”

Tom, however, gave a less-than-promising update on where things stand with Taylor back in February. Asked on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen if “anything ever happened” between the two, he sighed and replied, “No. I love Shep.”

“I like Taylor a lot,” Tom added. “Every time I see her, my face lights up. But I think I’m kind of undateable, Andy.”

Perhaps Gary has a decent chance after all — that is, as long as Taylor doesn’t care about his Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 love triangle with Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae.
