Garret Dillahunt To Topline Rod Lurie’s TNT Drama Pilot ‘Monsters of God’

Garret Dillahunt is set as the lead in Rod Lurie’s post-Civil War drama pilot Monsters of God for TNT, from Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The project reunites Dillahunt with Plan B after co-starring in the company’s Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave.

In Monsters of God, written and to be directed by Lurie, savagery and violence are the cornerstones of Colonel “Terrible” Bill Lancaster (Dillahunt)’s holy war against the Comanche in post-Civil War Texas. Despite the peaceful co-existence between the Comanche and local townspeople, Lancaster sets out on a quest to kill off every single member of the tribe, bringing chaos to the town of Slater.

Vicious, relentless, and a tower of a man, Colonel “Terrible” Bill Lancaster is the newly in-charge leader at Fort Thayer, a military base in Texas that exists to make peace with the nearby Comanche tribe. A fighter for the North in the Civil War, Lancaster’s morals stopped there; he now focuses on the total extermination of the Comanche, a goal in contrast to his orders.

Lurie executive produces with his partner at Battle Plan Productions, Marc Frydman, and Plan B’s DeDe Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Sarah Esberg.

Dillahunt has been straddling drama and comedy on TV, with roles on half-hours Raising Hope and The Mindy Project and dramas Justified and Hand of God. In features, in addition to his role in 12 Years a Slave, which was nominated for a SAG best ensemble award, Dillahunt also co-starred in No Country For Old Men, which won SAG’s outstanding actor and cast awards.

Dillahunt is repped by UTA and D2 Management.
