One of the Augusta area's oldest singing groups plans to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a concert at the end of the month.

The Garden City Chorus will perform "Blast From the Past" at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Wesley Center of Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Ave., North Augusta. Several other area barbershop ensembles also will take the stage.

The show's featured performers will be Main Street, an award-winning barbershop quartet that was the International Barbershop Harmony Society's champion quartet for 2017. Since forming in 2011, the group has been heard in numerous performances, recordings and television commercials.

"We are fortunate to bring an act of this quality, at this price, to a venue where you can be so close to such great performers," said John Philips, director of the Garden City Chorus. “While in the CSRA, Main Street will also conduct workshops at Lakeside and North Augusta high schools thanks to a grant from the Association of International Champions and the Harmony Foundation International.”
