If you’ve ever thought that the smells of gunfire or explosions would make you a better Call of Duty player, then GameScent could be your dream come true. Bringing Smell-O-Vision into the 21st century, the newly launched device uses AI to release “real-time scents” during gameplay.

Currently compatible with all consoles, PC, VR, and streaming platforms, GameScent uses the company’s AI technology to “process real-time audio cues” into odors meant to make video games or movies more immersive.

“Studies have shown that the sense of smell imprints in long-term memory more strongly than anything else,” said GameScent president Casey Bunce. “With GameScent, we’re hoping to elevate gamers’ experiences to be more exciting and memorable than they ever have been before.”

Essentially functioning like a diffuser, the GameScent uses scent cartridges to unleash smells including gunfire, explosions, forest, clean air, storm, and racing car into your gaming room, with the “clean air” setting meant to clear out the aromas released by the device during a gaming session. Once you run out, refills for the cartridges will be sold separately. It looks like there are more scents on the way, too, as blood, ocean, sports arena, and fresh cut grass are listed on the website as “coming soon.”

There’s no proof that GameScent will actually make you a better gamer, but it could potentially make your deaths more realistic. Listed at $179.99, it’s currently marked down to $149.99. Pick up yours here.
