Production has commenced on British multiverse horror-thriller film “Parallel.”

Written by Nathan Shane Miller (“Surviving Confession”), the film follows a detective’s journey through the pain of losing his son. As he navigates through a small British community veiled in enigma and fear, a hidden portal to a parallel realm offers a chance at reunion, blurring reality as secrets unfurl.

More from Variety

The film is directed by Matthew Tibbenham (“Surviving Confession,” video game “Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom”). The cast is headlined by James Cosmo (“Braveheart,” “Game of Thrones”) and Arifin Putra (“The Raid 2”). It also includes Hannah Al Rashid (“The Night Comes for Us”), Iskandar Eaton (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”), Philip Hulford (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One”), and Shivani Cassidy (“Quarantine Leap”).

The film is produced by Silent D Pictures, led by prolific producer Djonny Chen, and his producing partner Ewa Habdas. The company is known for “Dragged Up Dirty,” featuring Michelle Ryan (“Bionic Woman”), “The Haunting of Helen’s Bridge,” with Michelle Collins (“EastEnders”), and “Before Night Falls,” which was a box office success in Indonesia in 2022.

Casting is by Ajo Kacmar of IO Casting, with Philippe Ashfield at Instant Entertainment serving as publicist.

Tibbenham said: “This is not your typical horror movie. It’s a heartfelt story about a father’s grief and a gripping journey through thrilling chambers of horror.”

The film is scheduled for delivery in 2024.

Other films that are currently in production at Silent D include “High Wire,” featuring emerging star from Hong Kong, Isabella Wei; and “Influenced!,” a black comedy set in the world of social media influencers inspired by Oscar Wilde’s classic 1891 novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” headlined by Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch.
