'Game of Thrones' actor Conleth Hill denies responsibility for coffee cup, mystery continues

The great "Game of Thrones" coffee cup mystery saga of 2019 continues.

If you recall, in Episode 4 of the series' final season fans spotted a Starbucks coffee cup during one of the scenes. HBO tried to laugh off the mistake releasing a statement that claimed, "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."

Last week, Emilia Clarke revealed the perpetrator behind the coffee cup (or so we thought).

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show," the actress famous for playing Daenerys Targaryen said the cup belonged to fellow actor, Conleth Hill. Clarke said Hill confessed that the cup was his during a party before the Emmys and apologized for not coming clean about it.

"He’s like, ‘I think so, I’m sorry darling, I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed the heat was very much on you,' " she said. "And I was like, ‘What?!' "

Now, Hill who played Lord Varys is saying otherwise.

Speaking with Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, the "Game of Thrones" actor says it would've been impossible for him to leave the cup behind.

Conleth Hill refutes Emilia Clarke's claims that he confessed to leaving the coffee cup behind.
Conleth Hill refutes Emilia Clarke's claims that he confessed to leaving the coffee cup behind.

"You know, there's no proof that I did it. So accuse away," he said, according to CNN and the Guardian. "I would need to have had Mr. Man arms to leave a coffee cup there," referring to a character with really long arms.

Hill added: "I took a bullet for Emilia Clarke and she touted on me."

Will fans ever get to the bottom of who left the cup in Episode 4 of the series' final season?

Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, pointed the finger at Clarke in May.

"I mean look who it’s placed in front of. Emilia Clarke," she said on an episode of "The Tonight Show." "She’s the culprit."
