Season 7 of Game of Thrones will see worlds collide, as Daenerys Targaryen arrives in Westeros to stake a claim to the Iron Throne. She’ll have to wrest it from Cersei Lannister’s cold, scheming fingers, though. And then there are the Starks, who have finally returned to and regained their family seat in Winterfell. Of course, the greatest threat of all is waiting on the other side of the Wall — the Night King and his army of White Walkers.

As viewers count down the days until the HBO drama’s seventh-season premiere on July 16, Yahoo TV is launching our official countdown: #GoTIsComing. Check back here every day as we give updates on all of your favorite characters, details on an important new location, and a travel guide to the locations of Westeros. So pull on a thick coat and get ready for a long and brutal winter.

——————–

Oh, Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), when it comes to villainy, you’re a giant among men.

The slick, scheming master manipulator has had his fingers in every murderous plot and dastardly betrayal on Game of Thrones, from Ned Stark’s tragic death (sob!) to Sansa’s brutal marriage to Ramsay Bolton (rest in hell).

When Season 7 gets underway, Petyr Baelish is still at Winterfell, whispering poisonous nothings in Sansa’s ear and trying to ruin a time that should be hopeful for the Starks (for once).

Littlefinger just may be the most evil, awful villain on Game of Thrones. Let us count the ways:

Season 1, Episode 3: “Lord Snow” (Credit: HBO)

After her son was pushed from a tower and then nearly killed in an assassination attempt, Catelyn Stark was chomping at the bit to discover whodunnit. Littlefinger told her that the dagger from the attempt once belonged to him… and now belongs to Tyrion Lannister. This lie/manipulation sets off a chain of events that ends at the Red Wedding.

Season 1, Episode 7: “You Win or You Die” (Credit: HBO)

Littlefinger told Ned Stark, Hand of the King, that the City Watch would support him when he confronted Cersei Lannister about her illegitimate children. Instead, the guards turned against him and Littlefinger himself puts a dagger to Ned’s throat, saying, “I warned you not to trust me.”

Season 2, Episode 4: “Garden of Bones” (Credit: HBO)

Littlefinger once again lies to the woman he claims to be his true love, Catelyn, when he tells her that Sansa and Arya are safe in King’s Landing. THEY ARE NOT SAFE.

4.

Season 2, Episode 10: “Valar Morghulis” (Credit: HBO)

In the first of his many betrayals of Sansa, Littlefinger promises to get her home. In a way, he eventually keeps his word, because she does end up at Winterfell… just married to a psycho torturer.

5.

Season 3, Episode 6: “The Climb” (Credit: HBO)

After Ros snitched on Littlefinger’s plans to Varys, Baelish had her delivered to Joffrey, who used her as crossbow target practice.

Season 4, Episode 3: “Breaker of Chains” (Credit: HBO)

Dontos helped Littlefinger break Sansa free from the melee that occurred when Joffrey died at his wedding. For his efforts, Dontos was killed.

7.

Season 4, Episode 5: “First of His Name” (Credit: HBO)

Next to Sansa, Lysa Arryn received the worst of Littlefinger’s manipulations. She was so in love with him that she poisoned her own husband, then wrote the letter that blamed the Lannisters for his death. That set into motion Ned Stark leaving Winterfell and all of the tragedy that followed.

Season 4, Episode 7: “Mockingbird” (Credit: HBO)

It’s super creepy how Littlefinger can profess his undying love for Catelyn one minute, and then kiss her young daughter the next.

And bone-chilling when he professes his undying love for Catelyn, then pushes her sister, Lysa — his new WIFE — out the moon door.

Season 5, Episode 3: “High Sparrow” (Credit: HBO)

How crushing is the expression on Sansa’s face when she realizes that Littlefinger means to marry her off to Ramsay Bolton?

Season 5, Episode 4: “Sons of the Harpy” (Credit: HBO)

Not only does Baelish marry off Sansa to a brute, he then abandons her when Cersei calls him back to King’s Landing. Littlefinger’s plan is that Stannis Baratheon will capture Winterfell and rescue her. We all know how that worked out.

Littlefinger then tells Cersei of Sansa’s whereabouts (remember, Cersei thinks Sansa had something to do with Joffrey’s poisoning and wants her dead), using this knowledge to extract a promise that he’ll be the new Warden of the North.

Poor Robin Arryn is really not cut out for scheming and plotting. He just wants to play with his new pet bird. Littlefinger does his thing and gets his stepson to give him control of the Knight of the Vale.

Remember how wonderful it was to see Sansa and Jon reunite? And to see some Starks finally have a moment of happiness? Well, Littlefinger had to go and ruin it by pitting the two siblings against each other.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres Sunday, July 16, at 9 p.m. on HBO.
