Gabrielle Union Posts Adorable Makeover From Daughter Kaavia, 5: 'She Finds the Inspo and I Find the Courage'

Union woke up to an unexpected modeling job thanks to her young daughter

Gabrielle Union is getting a makeover ahead of Christmas courtesy of her daughter, Kaavia James.

On Saturday, the actress, 51, posted an adorable video on Instagram that showed her posing in a chic outfit styled by the five-year-old, and even featured Kaavia describing how she had created the special look for her mom.

The sweet clip began with a voice off-camera asking Kaavia, "Tell me what you did with your mom?" before the little girl began to describe how "we did the make-up," — which featured powder blue eye shadow — followed by the "lip gloss" and "then the dress" as she lifted the black strappy maxi dress she had chosen for her mom to wear to reveal "the shoes" she had picked, a pair of gold platform heels.

Union then held up a small purple purse and said that her daughter had "picked out this little fancy number."

Kaavia — who wore a colorful tank top and pink leggings — then spoke directly to the camera, after being asked by the person filming how she came to be so creative with her looks.

"I saw them online and I did it for my mommy," the little girl simply said.

"She finds the inspo and I find the courage 😅. Fun Fact: I was asleep 5 minutes before this 🙃," Union captioned the video.

Union shares Kaavia — who was born in November 2018 via surrogacy — with her husband, retired NBA player Dwyane Wade, and often shares sweet moments from their lives on her social media.

Earlier this month, the mom and daughter spent some time at the playground together, though the outing didn’t go completely smoothly for Union.

While attempting to slide down a slide with Kaavia, the actress got stuck — and shared a video of the moment on Instagram on Dec. 10.

Carrying Kaavia’s backpack and a purse as they took a trip down the slide together, Union’s purse strap unfortunately got stuck at the top.

The Bring It On star added a voiceover to the part of the video that showed her funny mishap, saying, “Yup, that’s me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.”

“It’s rare that I get caught up but the slide had other plans 😂,” the actress captioned the video.

Union — who along with Wade threw a "Wade Thanksgiving" party for their family and friends on the November holiday this year — gave PEOPLE some insight into Kaavia's personality back in 2019, describing their similar personalities.

“She looks just like Dad, but I’d like to think the attitude is from me,” the Bring It On star said. “She will stare into your soul and tell you about yourself through her eyes.”

Kaavia's siblings are Wade's children from previous relationships. He has a son Zaire, 21, and a daughter Zaya, 16, with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches. The 41-year-old also has a son named Xavier, 10, with Aja Metoyer and is the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.
