This belated birthday celebration proves once again that Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are among the coolest celebrity parenting couples. On this past Friday, the husband-and-wife duo hosted a Pride Day and Medieval-themed party for their daughter, Zaya Wade, who turned 13 on May 29.

Wade shared two Instagram photos capturing the special event.

In the first post, Zaya featured an image dressed in black and gold-printed pants and a jewel-toned, satin green cape that complemented the pastel purple braided hairdo. Her father, with his complementing flaming red hairstyle, was standing by her side. The caption reads: “𝕊𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕘𝕖𝕣 𝕥𝕠𝕘𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣✊🏾 #happypride🌈.”

The second photo offered full looks at the father-daughter duo’s outfits. In the festive spirit, we see the former NBA player wearing a black leather-like skirt and a fitted light grey long-sleeve tee shirt. The background shows part of the event decor, with the wall decal that reads: “ZAYA#13.” To caption the post, the teen wrote: “ᗯᕼᗴᑎ Tᕼᗴ Tᕼᗴᗰᗴ Iᔕ ᗰOᗪᖇᗴᑎ ᗰᗴᗪIᐯᗩᒪ KIᑎᘜᗪOᗰ #13.”

Union has been outspoken about sharing the importance of being yourself with Zaya. On her birthday, Union shared this message on her Instagram in support and to celebrate this milestone: “Happy Birthday baby!!! I can’t believe you are 13!! @zayawade you are such an inspiration and motivation to get my butt up everyday and fight. When I’m weary, frustrated, full of rage, I see your face and your joy and you living your best life and I want that for all of us. I love you sooooo much kid!! Enjoy this day and every day knowing you are loved, protected, respected, admired and celebrated. ♥️♥️♥️♥️.”

Since Zaya came out as transgender, her father and stepmother were supportive from the start when Wade hinted to his daughter’s gender identity last year. When first speaking about the subject with Ellen DeGeneres, Wade said: ” [M]y wife reached out to everybody on the cast of Pose,” he said of the FX show about New York’s gay and transgender ballroom scene of the ’80s and ’90s. We’re just trying to figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self.”

With this Pride Month celebration, we see that this couple continues to be an example of #parentinggoals.
