Gabrielle Union’s Daughter Kaavia Is the Cutest Sous Chef in a New Video

Gabrielle Union’s 5-year-old daughter Kaavia doesn’t do anything halfway. When she throws shade at someone, she’s heralded as Shady Baby on the internet. When she dresses up, it’s like Beyoncé. And when she helps out in the kitchen, she transforms into a mini sous chef!
Kaavia just made something so good, it can practically be used as an audition tape for Food Network. “Life of a sous chef @thejourdanchataun 👩🏾🍳,” a video posted to Kaavia’s Instagram was captioned, channeling Chef Jourdan Chataun.

In the video, Chef Chataun is guiding Kaavia how to make a delicious brunch meal: chicken and waffles! With gloved hands, the chef guides Kaava’s hand to show her how to slice raw chicken into strips. She then lets Kaavia smell and taste different spices, encouraging her to put it in the marinade and the breading herself. We love how she is involving Kaav in every step of the process!
After shaking a lot of garlic sauce into the flour mixture for the breading — prompting an “Oh, OK. OK.” from Chef Chataun — Kaavia is ready to crack some eggs! From there, she melts butter on the stovetop, makes blueberry syrup in a saucepan, and fried chicken. They make waffles, then serve all three together on a heart-shaped plate. It looks amazing.
Chef Chataun commented, “The BEST SOUS CHEF EVER!!!! @kaaviajames And those were some of THE BEST CHICKEN & WAFFLES W/BLUEBERRY SYRUP I’ve ever tasted! 🙏🏽🫶🏽” Aww!
“The ancestors were guiding that seasoning hand 👏🏾🔥 go head lil Kaavia!!” one person commented on the video. Another person said, “Oh my heart! I am so ready for the Chef Kaavia Era👏🏾🤭”
Last week, Kaavia was in her modeling era. She wore a gorgeous white dress with a tan Burberry coat, which she modeled adorably in her house. “Consider this your invite to the @burberry show,” a video set to Fergie’s “Glamorous” was captioned. Her talent is unmatched!
One reason why Kaavia is so fabulous? She has amazing parents. The Bring It On alum, who shares Kaavia with husband Dwyane Wade, opened up about one of her parenting strategies in a new interview with PEOPLE earlier this month. “I think a lot of times as parents, we never want to admit that we don’t know,” she said. “We haven’t had a clue sometimes and sometimes we need help or sometimes we have to search out the information. We want to appear to be in control, all-knowing, at all times.”
She continued, “We don’t also really want to be that transparent because we’re afraid of being judged and we want to be able to control how other people see us. All that does is create an illusion of who we are and it closes the door to real intimacy within the family, real information and a real understanding of who your parents are.”
