Gabby Douglas Wishes She Hadn't Lost Her Joy Going Into 2016 Olympics: It 'Was Truly My Strength'

Gabby Douglas is looking back on all of her Olympic success! The former gymnast talked to Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans about how she felt winning her first gold medal, as well as what she’d do differently if she could go back to the beginning of her journey. “2013 through 2016, I tried to be something that I wasn’t,” she said. “When I look at my routines and I look at the difference, you can feel a lot of coldness in my performance. I still try to figure out why I tried to switch myself, but at the end of the day, I realized my joy was truly my strength and my energy, and so, [I was] so mad that I lost that.” Gabby also talked about hosting the new docuseries “Strive,” which follows the stories of six refugees achieving their Olympic dreams. “Strive” is available now on YouTube.
