G Herbo returns Friday with his new song “Subject,” the Chicago rapper’s first solo song of 2024.

In addition to the Southside-produced single, G Herbo dropped the video for “Subject,” where he alludes to his recent legal woes. “I can’t trust nobody, what the fuck,” the rapper says on the track. “Everybody keep asking me about dumb shit. Change the subject.”

“Subject” marks the rapper’s first solo song since he avoided prison in January after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges stemming from an alleged scheme that used stolen credit card info to pay for private jet excursions, vacations, car rentals, and even “designer puppies.”

As part of the plea deal, the rapper born Herbert Wright was ordered to serve three years of probation as well as pay $139,968 in restitution for purchases tied to the alleged scheme.

Amid his legal troubles, G Herbo has continued to record music. In 2021, he dropped his fourth studio album, 25, and the following year, he shared Survivor’s Remorse. Last year, the rapper released the mixtape Strictly 4 My Fans II, along with a handful of singles and collaborations.
