G Herbo Launches Mental Health Initiative for Black Youth

G Herbo has launched a mental health initiative aiming to connect “Black young adults with therapeutic resources that help inform and improve their mental health in the pursuit of a better quality of life.” The multi-tiered program, called “Swervin’ Through Stress: Tools to Help Black Youth Navigate Mental Wellness,” aims to provide mental health resources in underserved Black communities and offers therapy sessions, a hotline, and more.

“Swervin’ Through Stress is a project I put together to put 150 kids through therapy,” G Herbo told the Chicago Reader. “At their age, you never know how critical it can be to have someone to talk to—to have someone help you better yourself and your situation.” For more information, visit the initiative’s website.

Earlier this week, G Herbo hosted a mental health panel attended by City Girls, Saweetie, Wale, and NLE Choppa and moderated by psychiatrist Jessica Clemons.

Along with G Herbo’s label Machine Entertainment Group, the Swervin’ Through Stress initiative is partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Audiomack, and InnoPsych. G Herbo’s latest album, PTSD, arrived earlier this year.
