FX Orders Comedy Pilot ‘Snowflakes’ From ‘Tonight Show’ Writers, Nick Kroll to Produce

FX has ordered a pilot for the half-hour comedy “Snowflakes.”

The project boasts an impressive lineup behind the camera. Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw are the writers and executive producers, with Nick Kroll executive producing under his first-look deal with FX Productions. Karey Dornetto will also executive produce along with Alicia Van Couvering, president of Kroll’s Good at Business production banner, and Jonathan Krisel, with Krisel also directing. FX Productions will produce.

The logline for “Snowflakes” describes it as a “twenty-something ensemble comedy following a group of codependent housemates trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet.”

Kronengold and Shaw were writers for two years on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” on which they were the youngest writers in the show’s history. They also published the book “Naked in the Rideshare: Stories of Gross Miscalculations,” a collection of comedy short stories, with HarperCollins in November 2023. They are repped by UTA and Gang Tyre.

Kroll previously starred in the FX comedy “The League” and is known for co-creating and starring in the Netflix adult animated series “Big Mouth,” which is preparing to end with its eighth season. Kroll has also guest starred on the hit FX series “What We Do in the Shadows” in the role of Simon the Devious. He is repped by UTA, Rise Management and Schreck Rose.

Dornetto was the showrunner on “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens” for two seasons and an executive producer on the IFC series “Portlandia.” She is also known for her writing on shows like “Arrested Development” and “Community.” She previously worked with Kroll on “Kroll Show” and recently wrote for the FX animated series “Little Demon.” She is repped by UTA, Artists First, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Krisel recently directed the FX pilot “English Teacher,” with that show being ordered to series in November. He previously wrote, directed, and served as showrunner on the FX series “Baskets” as well as “Portlandia,” and also executive produced and directed “Kroll Show.” He is repped by UTA, Mosaic and Yorn Levine.

Krisel is a director, writer and showrunner, who most recently directed the FX pilot English Teacher, which is now ordered to series. He is best known for his work showrunning, writing and directing every season of IFC’s Portlandia and the FX series Baskets, and for his work with the comedy duo Tim & Eric. Krisel also executive produced and directed Kroll Show for Comedy Central. Krisel is represented by Mosaic and UTA, Mosaic and Yorn Levine.
