The Music at the Intersection festival is on year number four in St. Louis, Missouri, with funk, jazz, hip hop and blues genres reigning.
The Sept. 14-15 music lineup includes more than 50 national, regional and local artists performing across four stages in the Grand Center Arts District.
Among them are psychedelic soul band Black Pumas; 10-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan; rapper Big Boi; New Orleans trombonist and trumpeter Trombone Shorty; five-time Grammy winning jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding; funk group Lettuce; jazz singer Samara Joy and St. Louis rapper Chingy.
The festival focuses on “St. Louis Made,” with a majority of the lineup having direct ties to the St. Louis area. Other artists are tied to St. Louis by musical genre or are from the Caribbean, Mississippi Delta and sister river cities, from which St. Louis shares music and cultural roots.
Saturday, Sept. 14, puts focus on hip-hop, funk and soul, while Sunday, Sept. 15, kicks off with a gospel brunch, then leans heavily into jazz, blues and heritage.
