Naples restaurant news: '80s party, restaurant celebrations, new owners & Christmas in July

Looking to add a little fun to your week? From an '80s-themed party and Christmas in July to delicious Bastille Day celebrations, we have details on where to go and what to know.

Unlike the Go-Go's, our lips aren't sealed.

On another note, who'd have thought variations on wu wu and woo woo would be written two weeks in a row? Definitely not this reporter, but here we go.

Nostalgia nights

The Oasis, Dan and Mike Latino’s new restaurant replacing Pelican Larry’s on Pine Ridge in April, is hosting a 1980s party complete with themed food and drinks on July 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. Think sloppy joes, nachos, deviled eggs and potato skins to pair with classic potent potables like Cosmos and Long Island iced tea. For those holding onto neon off-the-shoulder sweaters from The Limited and scrunchies, which are back in style BTW, this is your night: Don your best accessories and garb from the era for the costume contest prize.

Fun fact: Timelessly trendy espresso martinis and Woo Woo vodka cocktails debuted during this decade.

Save the dates for disco night on Aug. 5 and a 1990s celebration Sept. 8.

Who's new at Su's on Marco?

Kathleeya "Kathy" Chitchop is the new owner of Su’s Garden, which opened in 1982 on Marco Island. Menu emphasis remains Chinese cuisine; expect the name to change to KJ Chinese Bistro & Sushi in the next few months. Classics like honey chicken and General Tso's are staying put; her husband Joe Selerat, the "J" of KJ's, is developing new recipes and will add noodle dishes and sushi to the offerings. Decor details will gradually be refreshed.

Su's Garden on Marco is now owned by Kathleeya "Kathy" Chitchop, the K in KJ's.
