Unless you live under a rock, you’ve realized that summer has moved aside and autumn is in full swing. And as Taylor Swift so perfectly put it, with fall comes “hats and scarves and kneesocks and wearing tights for the first time in months,” per Rolling Stone.

Swift goes on, “And when the mornings are all chilly, and you can see your breath and draw little pictures on foggy windows and plaid stuff and ankle boots and not caring when people make fun of pumpkin-flavored stuff ’cause you love it and are happy, it’s all the rage.”

If you aren’t as enthused about those aspects of fall and are looking for some inspiration, here are four ideas on how to spruce up your autumn season.

Get outside

In my opinion, fall is the season when Mother Nature shows her best colors. The heat has died down, making the air a little cooler and the sun a little less harsh. Fall is the perfect time for a stroll in the park or a bicycle ride.

At night, when it’s cooled off, you can warm up next to a bonfire with friends and family, roasting hot dogs and s’mores. If you really want to get into the spooky spirit of October, Ultimate Camp Resource shared some scary stories to share around the campfire.

Hiking and camping are also great activities to experience in the fall, with fewer bugs in the air and a lesser chance of heat exhaustion.

Visit a local farmers market

Enjoy the last of the fresh local produce and get inspired by fall flavors at a local farmers market.

Urban Food Connections of Utah has two farmers markets in downtown Salt Lake City that pride themselves on informing “the community about local food, regional producers and Utah’s proud agricultural heritage.”

Utah also has fall activities such as “street markets, local talent, live music, entertainment, weekend markets and festivals” happening all over the state each week, per Utah Agenda.

Outdoor activities like farmers markets allow locals to enjoy the outdoors by blending aspects of sustainability, community and healthy living all into a vibrant and enjoyable shopping experience.
