The surprise announcement comes after Disney previously confirmed a Frozen 3 in the works, following the massive success of the first two films

Even more Frozen is on the way!

Nine months after announcing an upcoming third Frozen movie, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger has revealed that there will also be a fourth installment of the popular animated musical franchise.

In a speech from Hong Kong Disneyland shared on Good Morning America Thursday as the park opened its new "World of Frozen" area, Iger teased to Michael Strahan, "I'll give you a little surprise there Michael: Frozen 3 is in the works and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works, too."

Details are being kept under wraps for now, though, as the 72-year-old executive noted, "I don't have much to say about those films right now."

"But Jenn Lee, who created Frozen — the original Frozen and Frozen 2 — is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories," Iger added.

The long-rumored and wished-for Frozen 3 was officially confirmed by Iger in February during a call with investors, where he also announced sequels to the Toy Story and Zootopia franchises.

Frozen's cast has been open about desiring another sequel. In June 2022, Kristen Bell, who voices Anna, joked on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, "I would like to officially announce, with zero authority, Frozen 3."

When the audience cheered in response, Bell, 43, clarified, "Please bear in mind I did say 'zero authority,' 'cause I can't [actually announce it]. I can't do that — I'm not in charge. But there could be something in the works and something maybe happening, maybe."

"I'll keep it mysterious," she added. "But I know Idina [Menzel] recently said she would do it, and I feel like if we're all in, what are we waiting for?"

And Frozen's Oscar-winning songwriters are ready for the third installment of the franchise — even if they say they were surprised as anyone else that there would be another movie.

"They told us, the day of, and a little bit about what they're thinking," Kristen Anderson-Lopez told Collider in March, about how she and her songwriting partner and husband Robert Lopez heard the news. "It got us very excited. Now, we have to let the wheels of Hollywood do what they do, but we were very excited with their ideas."

Last month, franchise co-creator, co-director and screenwriter Lee, 52, revealed at the BFI London Film Festival, per Variety, that she was "blown away" and "so excited" by what she has seen so far of the third film, which will come after 2013's Frozen and 2019's Frozen 2.

“I don’t know what I’m doing on it yet — I’m not doing nothing — except doing what I do now, which is we work on every project as as team and I’m in there with creative," she explained, according to the publication. "But with Frozen, just a little bit more.”

The filmmaker also opened up about her "philosophy" when it comes to movies, specifically the popular franchise. “If there is more story to tell, the filmmakers have to drive it," Lee said. "And I’ll say with Frozen, Marc Smith, who was our director of story on Frozen 2, came with an incredible idea for more Frozen, and it’s worth it.”
