Chef Lindsay Autry’s fried chicken was declared by Food Network as the best in Florida. That should come as no surprise to fans of Autry’s take on the Southern classic. She cuts to the chase, flavor-wise, and starts with chicken thighs for maximum richness. Autry brines the boneless thighs in sweet tea before frying them. The result is chicken that’s crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside.

Raising Cane’s, a Baton Rouge-founded chain that’s focused on hand-battered chicken tenderloins, announced it would open a restaurant in Royal Palm Beach.

The fast-casual spot is expected to debut sometime this fall.

The menu is straightforward and all about the tenders, which are made to order. Options include anything from a three-tender combo (with crinkle fries, sauce, Texas toast and drink) to a six-tender “Caniac Combo” (crinkle fries, two sauces, Texas toast, coleslaw and drink).

Raising Cane’s Royal Palm Beach will be located at 100 N. State Rd. 7.

Dave’s Hot Chicken

The celebrity-backed Dave’s Hot Chicken chain announced it would open seven locations in Palm Beach and Martin counties over the next three years.

The Nashville-inspired hot chicken concept started as a parking-lot pop-up in Los Angeles in 2017. It quickly expanded into a chain of fast-casual restaurants in the United States and Canada.

Locally, the first of the Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants will likely open in Palm Beach Gardens or West Palm Beach, according to franchise partner Blair Bitove, whose family expanded the chain to Toronto.

She said she expects that first Palm Beach County location to open by the end of 2022 or in early 2023.
