A part of town perpetually hungry for good locally owned food businesses will soon get an infusion of casual quality from a chef with an impressive resume.

Chef Lorin Peters, who has previously worked at the lauded French Laundry in the Napa Valley, is taking a decidedly more relaxed path from her famed previous employer with Goldy’s. The walk-up concept at Littlefield’s (2401 Winsted Lane) will serve grab-and-go dishes befitting the open-air picnic vibes of the space that is also home to Veracruz All Natural.

The menu includes dishes like biscuit sandwiches and avocado hash browns for breakfast and a roasted chicken panini made with Texas French Bread focaccia and pasta salad later in the day.

Peters, an Austin native and alumnus of the University of Texas, founded gourmet, overstuffed bite-sized cookie company Cookie Rich in 2020, and those sweet treats are also available at Goldy’s.

“When launching Cookie Rich, it required scientific precision and exact measurements to perfect the flavors and textures for pastry recipes. With Goldy’s, I’m excited to reignite the artistic savory side of my professional background and showcase my food to Austinites for the first time,” Peters said in a release.

Goldy’s takes the place of Fleet Coffee, an original co-tenant of the space that opened in late 2020. Goldy’s is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans for extended hours and menu in the fall.
