EXCLUSIVE: Fremantle has struck a multi-year output deal for Jamie Oliver shows in Germany with RTL.

The agreement will see the Bertelsmann-owned network become the home of the celebrated TV chef’s portfolio of content in Germany, handing exclusive rights for pay-TV, free TV, SVoD and AVoD. Fremantle said the move will “redefine the cookery television landscape for German audiences.”

The German premieres of several Jamie Oliver cooking formats will air on pay TV channel RTL Living, starting with Jamie Cooks the Mediterranean next month. Formats are also set to premiere on free TV platform VOXup, while further specials and Oliver events are in discussion for the flagship channels of RTL Deutschland. On RTL+, the shows will be available for streaming via AVoD and SVoD.

The deal also opens up opportunities for cross-promotion, Fremantle added, including in digital and printed media and publishing of Oliver’s books. Bertelsmann, which also owns Fremantle, has a hefty publishing arm.

“We’re incredibly excited to be starting a new chapter for Jamie Oliver programming and lifestyle content in Germany, working closely and expanding our relationship with RTL Deutschland,” said Maximillian Bolenius, Senior Vice President Distribution, German speaking Europe & Israel at Fremantle.

“The deal will unlock a variety of synergy opportunities across the Jamie Oliver brand via the incredible media portfolio of RTL Deutschland and Bertelsmann. We’re proud to have a long-standing relationship with the Jamie Oliver team and thrilled that we can continue to feed the appetites of his fans across Germany.”
