Cast announced for 'Aznbbgrl,' series about lives of Asian American women in OC's Little Saigon

The three main leads of Freeform and 20th Television's upcoming Asian American coming-of-age series "Aznbbgrl” have been revealed.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the television network shared that Cathy Bui from “All I Ever Wanted,” Lynn Kim Do from “FBI: Most Wanted” and Jazelle Villanueva from “Valets” are set to play the lead roles of Anh, Jenny and Dang-Dang, respectively.

Aznbbgrl” follows the story of three Asian American women who struggle with generational expectations. In the show, which takes place in Little Saigon in Orange County, California, Ahn is focused on getting accepted to an elite college. Her plans are hindered after she and her best friend Jenny get involved with a street gang. They meet Dang-Dang and, much to their surprise, the three develop a close friendship.

Other actors cast in the series include Quentin Nguyen-Duy (“Law and Order: SVU”), Alejandro Akara (“Dark Harvest”) Cat Ly (“Owl and the Sparrow”) and Audrey Huynh (“The Boss Baby: Back in Business”).

Natalie Chaidez (“The Flight Attendant”), Dinh Thai (“Wu-Tang: An American Saga”), Kai Yu Wu (“American Born Chinese”), Melvin Mar (“Fresh off the Boat”) and Jake Kasdan (“New Girl”) will be the upcoming series’ executive producers. Thai will also serve as the show’s director, while Wu is set to be its showrunner.
