Freeform Developing Thriller ‘The Kill Book’ From ‘Mysteries Of Laura’ Team

Freeform has put in development drama The Kill Book. It hails from The Mysteries of Laura creator/executive producer Jeff Rake, co-executive producer Jeffrey Lippman, executive producer Aaron Kaplan and the production companies behind the NBC series, Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV via its cable unit Warner Horizon Scripted TV.

Written by Lippman, The Kill Book is described as an action-packed thriller that follows a wily, resilient young woman, Charlotte, as she apprentices under a skilled but solitary hitman, Smith, in an effort to obtain justice for her murdered parents. This origin story of an assassin also is a love story between an orphan and the man who made her one, with Charlotte and Smith forming an unlikely bond before she discovers his role in her parents’ death. Can Charlotte navigate her way through an increasingly dangerous world without losing everything that matters to her — including her own humanity?

Lippman executive produces with Rake and Kapital Entertainment’s Kaplan and Dana Honor.

At Freeform, Kapital also has pilot Now & Then. The company previously produced drama series Chasing Life and comedy Kevin From Work, as well as pilots Nicki, with Nicki Minaj, and Brown Girls.

Lippman, whose credits also include a stint as writer/co-executive producer on all six seasons of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, is repped by Paradigm. The deal was negotiated by APA.
