Free Pittsburgh concert festival brings Ben Folds, Sugarhill Gang, Los Lonely Boys & PSO

PITTSBURGH ― Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival officials announced this year's free main stage concert lineup.

Returning to the Pittsburgh Cultural District May 31 through June 9, the 65th annual festival will feature “hip hop, jazz, Americana, rock, pop, classical, and more, from Grammy Award-winning artists as well as emerging,must-see musicians,” Sarah Aziz, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s interim vice president of programming, said.

The Dollar Bank Main Stage will be in a new location this summer, at the intersection of Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Ninth Street.

The schedule:

May 31: Pokey LaFarge, country-blues-jazz.

June 1: Los Lonely Boys, Texican rock 'n' roll known for their Grammy-winning, double-platinum hit "Heaven."

June 2: Martha Redbone Roots Project, folk-blues-gospel.

June 3: Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

June 4: Nicole Zuraitis, Grammy-winning jazz vocalist-pianist.

June 5: Ozomatli, alt-rock-reggae-funk-hip-hop.

June 6: Say She She, female trio that plays disco-inspired psychedelic soul.

June 7: Doom Flamingo, synth-wave from Charleston, S.C.

June 8: Sugarhill Gang and The Furious Five, rap pioneers.

June 9: Ben Folds, alternative-rock, piano-pop. Emmy-nominated, multi-platinum selling Folds will perform at the festival as part of his Paper Airplane Request Tour,” when he encourages audience members to make their song requests via paper airplanes.

“The last time I did this on tour the response was overwhelming, with literally hundreds of paper airplanes with song requests being launched on cue from fans at the start of the second half of each of my concerts,” Folds said in a press release. “It’s the purest, most low-tech form of engagement that creates a special bond with my audiences.”

The festival will draw hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the region and beyond.
