Free courtyard concert at the Burrows Center for the Arts in Marysville

Oct. 26—Local singer and songwriter Tom Galvin will be hosting a free courtyard concert on Friday outside the Lee Burrows Center for the Arts in Marysville.

Galvin refers to this endeavor as a "courtyard concert of good time songs," featuring popular rock music covers, selections from the folk music repertoire, and some of his own original music.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the music will begin approximately 30 minutes after. Attendance is free and open to the public, with hot dogs, chips, adult beverages, and water all available. The courtyard is located at 624 E St. in Marysville with free parking located on the street and in the adjacent Umpqua Bank and Bank of America parking lots.

Since adopting Marysville as his home a few years back, Galvin has appreciated the region's extended summer concert season as compared to the cooler fall temperatures of Toledo, Ohio.

Galvin has toured the country with his music for many years while also training to become a psychotherapist. He and his musician wife, Gay Galvin, have both appeared in numerous concerts at the Burrows and the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts as well as other local venues, many times over with various ensembles and genres of music. Galvin also leads a monthly virtual open mic event, which he started during the COVID-19 pandemic offering a safe platform for poets, musicians, writers, and comedians.
