Chicago rapper Fredo Santana died Friday (Jan. 19). Known for his popular mixtapes and work with Migos and Drake, the 27-year-old suffered a fatal seizure.

TMZ reports he was found unresponsive in his L.A. home by his girlfriend. Santana, born Derrick Coleman, was vocal about his lean use, which attributed to his recent health problems. In October 2017, Santana thanked fans for their support after he was hospitalized for kidney and liver failure.

XXL points out the rapper considered rehab for his troubles with lean. “Hopefully I can be the face to sho ni**as to slow down an we got our whole life ahead of us fuck being rock stars gettin high I got ptsd,” he tweeted. “I was running from my old life tryna get high didn’t want to face them demons…I’m getting help I might just go to rehab.”

Santana, who is also the cousin of Chief Keef, broke into the Chicago Drill era with Fredo Kruger, It’s a Scary Site and his Walking Dead projects. He also released the collaborative mixtape, Turbo Bandana with Keef last year. At the time of his death, Santana was working on the follow-up to Walking Dead.

Santana is survived by his infant son, Legend.

Artists and friends like Drake and Lil B have paid their respects to the rapper on social media.
