Frasier Trailer: Frasier Reunites With His Son (And Has to Drink Cheap Scotch) in First Look at Paramount+ Revival

The doctor is in… and he’s just as snooty as ever.
Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the upcoming Frasier revival — which you can watch above — with Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as the titular shrink. He’s moved back to Boston and is drinking beer with his pals, but he can’t resist showing off his big vocabulary, telling his friends: “I feel amalgamated with the hoi polloi.” His British professor pal Alan snipes: “You are the classic everyman.”

But Frasier is there to reconnect with his son Freddy, now all grown up and a Boston firefighter played by Deception‘s Jack Cutmore-Scott. Freddy has a new girlfriend, though, and doesn’t exactly want to spend every moment with his dad. “Have you considered that he hates you?” Alan asks. (Is it too early to nominate Alan as the new Niles?) Frasier and Freddy do bond later and decide to toast with a glass of Scotch — but when Freddy says “top shelf,” he means the plastic jug of cheap Scotch he keeps on the top shelf. Gasp… what if the wine club hears about this?!
Along with the return of Frasier — the revival premieres Thursday, Oct. 12 on Paramount+, with a special airing on CBS on Tuesday, Oct. 17 — a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the revival, entitled Frasier: Inside the Series, will debut on Friday, Oct. 6 on Paramount+, the streamer announced.
Grammer and Cutmore-Scott are joined in the cast by Nicholas Lyndhurst (as Alan), Toks Olagundoye (as Alan’s colleague Olivia), Jess Salgueiro (as Freddy’s roommate Eve) and Anders Keith (as Frasier’s nephew David). Frasier alums Bebe Neuwirth (Lilith) and Peri Gilpin (Roz) are confirmed to make guest appearances, but original cast members David Hyde Pierce (Niles) and Jane Leeves (Daphne) are not expected to return. (John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s dad Martin Crane, passed away in 2018.)
