Frances McDormand's Best Actress Oscar statue stolen from after party

Frances McDormand's Oscar for Best Actress was reportedly stolen at an after party on Sunday night.

As expected, the actress won the award for her turn in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," making it her second Oscar win. While at the annual Governors Ball after the Academy Awards, though, her cherished statue was swiped from her table without her noticing.

According to TMZ, McDormand notified security at the Hollywood & Highland Center after noticing that her Oscar was missing from her table, prompting a party-wide search. Security eventually found the man, later identified as 47-year-old Terry Bryant, who took her statue later in the night and turned him over to authorities who booked him on felony grand theft. He remains in jail on a $20,000 bail.

"Security at the Governors Ball are looking for this guy, who grabbed Frances McDormand’s Oscar and ran out with it," New York Times writer Cara Buckley tweeted along with a photo of the man. "Wolfgang Puck’s photographer stopped him, got the Oscar back, and the guy disappeared back into the ball. Apparently Frances has said to let him go."

Indeed, McDormand's rep confirmed that the actress had been given her award back and continued to enjoy her big night.

"I can confirm that after a brief time apart, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited last night. They celebrated their reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out," she told People following the incident.

On Monday afternoon, footage emerged of the thief with McDormand's Oscar at the Governors Ball. Bryant recorded the video via Facebook Live, and friends commented on the clip congratulating him on his "win." In the footage, one woman asks if he's gotten his name engraved on it yet.

"This is mine," he says in the video. "We got it tonight, baby!"

Earlier in the night, McDormand delivered what proved to be the most memorable acceptance speech of the 2018 Oscars. While addressing the star-studded audience, she asked all of her fellow female nominees -- in all categories -- to stand up.
