Fran Drescher says gay ex-husband and a 'friend with benefits' keep her happy: 'I'm not dating'

Fran Drescher is single, but don’t mistake that for her being lonely.

“You know I’m kind of dating myself and it’s going quite well. I’m not dating,” the actress and writer told Page Six on Thursday while promoting her new NBC show, Indebted, in New York City. “I have my gay ex-husband who I love and he fulfills a lot of needs. I have someone on the side who is a friend with benefits.”

The Nanny actress and writer divorced ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson in 1999, after 21 years of marriage. They met in high school and married when they were 21, long before he came out to her as gay. In the two decades since, they’ve remained close friends and even continue to work together. Jacobson was her co-creator on The Nanny as well as the sitcom Happily Divorced.

She went on to marry entrepreneur Shiva Ayyadurai in 2014, but they split two years later.

Drescher, now 62, didn’t name the “friend with benefits,” but she revealed a little about their time together. For example, they meet up about twice a month, which she said is “more than enough.”

“He comes over, we hang out and we do the hot tub and I make us some food and we lay in bed and maybe we’ll watch tennis together, whatever it is or a movie,” Drescher said. “We talk, we have good conversations.”

She added that, “Of course we have sex and it’s delightful and it keeps me going.”

The actress said she’s quite content with their arrangement.

“[We’re] very comfortable with each other and we have our routine,” she said. “It’s always the same experience. We really don’t go out, we don’t go to restaurants, we don’t date. What we do, we do great.”
