The network has ordered Quiz With Balls, which comes from the Big Brother and The Voice creator’s Talpa Studios and Fremantle’s Eureka Productions.

It marks the latest De Mol project with Fox; he and Eureka are also behind The Floor, the Rob Lowe-hosted game show that launched in early January.

Quiz with Balls pits brains against balls combining a high-stakes quiz show with a large-scale physical competition. Each episode features two families competing for $100,000 in a “battle of the balls”.

Standing on a high platform over a pool, they must all work together as they face a multiple-choice quiz where each answer is allocated to a spot with a giant ball positioned way up behind it. If the correct answer is chosen, the ball rolls down and stops just before colliding with the player. If there’s a wrong answer, the massive ball mercilessly whacks them into the pool below. The more players each team loses, the harder the questions get. But the longer they last, the more money they bank, until one team reaches the final round to play for the $100,000 grand prize.

Anthony Carbone, who was showrunner of The Floor as well as Netflix’s The Floor Is Lava, will serve as showrunner. He will exec produce alongside de Mol, Maarten Meijs, Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening and John Leahy.

The format was originally launched by de Mol’s Talpa on SBS6, where it averaged a 21.1% market share in the 20-49 demo, above slot average.

It is also the latest show at Fox for Fremantle-backed Eureka, run by Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin, after Farmer Wants A Wife. The company is also behind the reboot of The Mole at Netflix.
