Fox News Tops Another Impeachment Day in Total Viewers, NBC Claims Ratings Win in Key Demo

The early Nielsen ratings for Wednesday’s impeachment inquiry hearings are in and Fox News topped all other networks in total viewers again, but NBC won in the advertiser-coveted demographic of viewers between 25-54. NBC was the least-viewed network overall.

From 9 a.m. ET to 4 p.m. ET, while the largest chunk of the day’s hearings took place, Fox News brought in 2.505 million total viewers, 404,000 of whom were in that key 25-54 demo. Among cable competitors, MSNBC was in second place with 2.355 million total viewers, 333,000 of whom fell in the demo. CNN was in third place overall when comparing cable networks and fourth place when adding in broadcast networks: It got 1.678 million total viewers and 396,000 in the demo. (CNN did beat ABC and CBS in the demo while MSNBC was in last place altogether when it came to viewers between 25-54.)

In broadcast, CBS led the way in total viewers, garnering 1.774 million between 9 a.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET. CBS got 342,000 viewers in the key demo. ABC was next in total viewers, pulling in 1.586 million with 348,000 in the demo.

NBC had the lowest total viewers between all six networks with 1.549 million, but had the highest amount in the demo: 419,000.

Fox News maintained its lead over cable competitors CNN and MSNBC during Tuesday’s round of hearings, leading all networks in total viewers. However, all three broadcast networks had more demo viewers than all of the cable news networks in both the morning and afternoon sessions, with ABC leading the way.
