Several Fox News anchors voiced measured support for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in the midst of her Senate testimony on Thursday.

As the hearing broke midmorning for a recess, roundtable panelists discussed Dr. Ford, and the tone a marked change for the network from even just 24 hours prior.

"You read the opening statement from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, and it is one thing," Bret Baier said. "But then you hear it, and in the way that she expresses it ... it is a totally different thing after you hear it."

Chris Wallace was even more forceful in his reaction, calling the testimony "extremely emotional, extremely raw and extremely credible": "This is a disaster for the Republicans," Wallace said firmly.

President Trump, a noted consistent viewer of Fox News, reportedly agrees with the panelists' perceptions of the testimony, according to Vanity Fair correspondent Gabriel Sherman.

"Trump telling people he’s furious that WH aides didn’t have advance knowledge of how credible Ford would seem," Sherman tweeted during the hearing's lunch recess, citing two sources.

The conversation also discussed the Republicans' decision to hire veteran sex-crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell to conduct questioning on their behalf.

"You have to believe that the Republican senators right now are asking themselves whether this was a good idea, whether or not they may have robbed themselves of the opportunity to ask pointed questions in a way that might be more compelling," said anchor Martha MacCallum.
