The Fox & Friends co-hosts don’t want to hear about Beto O’Rourke’s “huge library.”

While discussing the former Texas congressman’s bid for the 2020 presidency — and the splashy Vanity Fair cover story helping announce it — Brian Kilmeade took issue with the magazine reporting on O’Rourke’s extensive book collection.

Vanity Fair has a huge article and feature on [O’Rourke]. Almost as if they helped launch his campaign,” Kilmeade said. “They point out he has this huge library — as if it’s a big plus that he reads books. We would assume that.”

The irony of that comment — from a network that supports Trump, who infamously doesn’t read books — was not lost on many who sounded off on social media.

The Vanity Fair piece noted that the O’Rourkes have a “floor-to-ceiling bookshelf” in their living room with a “a section for rock memoirs” (not a shock for the former punk rocker), but also “a sizable collection of presidential biographies, including The Years of Lyndon Johnson by Robert Caro. The books are “arranged in historical order,” the story says, and the biographies suggest there’s been some reflection on the gravity of the presidency. But there’s also some political poetry to it, a sense that O’Rourke might be destined for this shelf. He has an aura.”

The article also talked about a book O’Rourke’s wife, Amy, was reading: Becoming, by Michelle Obama.

O’Rourke, 46, threw his hat in the presidential ring on Wednesday when he told an El Paso radio station he was running. The Vanity Fair piece followed later that day and by Thursday morning he had made his campaign official on social media.
